Something that I have observed as varying between people and cultures is the depth of friendship that they expect. Perhaps I could say that in cultures where friendships take longer to form, those fewer friendships are expected to be deeper. Are friendlier cultures more content with friendships that are warm, and encounters with others that are enjoyable, but where there are fewer expectations between friends?

A Tapestry of Stories
This last year has tested us all. I found myself alone much more than I am used to, and much more than I wanted to be. And after the initial enthusiasm for zoom coffees with friends around the world, since for once we thought we had time, most of us found that time evaporating, either into malaise or care responsibilities.
